Content marketing and PR are merging in a big way and the bar will continue to be raised on what constitutes great content.  All PR professionals, both in-house and outside consultants will need ever-larger amounts of great content to differentiate and the race for competent professionals who can adapt and execute will become even more in demand.


This program will discuss the trend, requirements and skills required to execute and thrive as the bar continues to be raised in the field of public relations . PR & the Rise of Content Marketing: A Huge 2014 PR Trend to Watch.


The program will address:

  • The Rise of Content Marketing How PR practitioners and marketers alike are going to increasingly be called on not just to promote content but to develop and curate new content themselves.
  • How Content Increases the value of your news – Creating videos, white papers, content for blogs, social media channels, etc.
  • How to Integrate Content and PR to maximize Results How to Increase value by promoting blogs, and how content effects the press release through the use of video, pictures, infographics

Cheryl Bame,

As a former television news producer, reporter and anchor, Cheryl understands how the media operates and how to strategically tailor a client’s message to garner interest by the media.  She has been offering Public Relations for professional services firms for nearly 14 years so she understands that targeted publicity should support a firm’s business development goals.  Cheryl positions her clients into thought leaders through the development of strategic media relations campaigns focused on timely issues that are important to their clients. Bame Public Relations represents national, regional and small law firms, as well as businesses in professional services, real estate and non-profit industries. 
Cheryl has been involved in the Legal Marketing Association for more than a decade and is the former President of the Los Angeles Chapter. She is the former co-chair of the International Membership Committee and is co-chair of a Pre-Conference session at LMA’s 2014 Annual Conference devoted exclusively to communications for law firms.  She is a frequent speaker at national and local LMA programs.

Melita Jampol has more than 10 years of experience in online and traditional marketing for professional services organizations. During her career she has worked closely with attorneys and sales teams to generate and nurture leads from expression of interest through deal close and is experienced in interacting directly with clients to help drive organization-wide goals, positive references, and client satisfaction. She helps law firms implement marketing communications programs that further their business development objectives.

In her role at Fenwick, Melita is responsible for the firm’s marketing communications efforts. Her programs range from content marketing and attorney thought leadership to online marketing and social media as well as public relations. In her first two years at the firm, she lead the development and promotion of 30 videos featuring the legal insights of Fenwick attorneys, launched multiple blogs, and produced white papers and surveys that drove exposure for those efforts.

Prior to joining Fenwick, Melita was a senior business development manager at an NLJ350 law firm with seven offices nationally. There she was responsible for the strategy and execution of marketing and business development initiatives for the litigation department and prior to that held firm-wide responsibility for public relations. Earlier, Melita was the first marketing manager at life sciences venture capital firm, Alta Partners. She began her career in marketing at municipal bond underwriter, Stone & Youngberg, now part of Stifel Nicolaus.

She traveled across the country as a speaker, presenting the social media marketing program she developed in 2008, one of the first of its kind in the legal industry. Melita earned a B.A. is psychology from the University of California, Davis, is a member of the legal marketing association and serves on the board of ArtPoint.

Many have appeared as legal experts on local, regional and national television and radio spots, including CNN and National Public Radio.

Elizabeth is a member of the Legal Marketing Association and sits on the board of the ABA Publishing/ Law Practice Management Section. She is the Director of the Law Journal Newsletters Webinar Series for American Lawyer Media, purveyors of a monthly program designed to train attorneys and marketing staff on law firm marketing and business development techniques.

Elizabeth was the Executive Editor of LMA Strategies Journal and Chair of the 2005 LMA annual conference. She was manager of public relations at Littler Mendelson, the national labor and employment firm, and has worked in the advertising groups of both the Recorder, a San Francisco affiliate of American Lawyer Media, and the National Law Journal.

Elizabeth holds a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She earned a paralegal certificate and she worked as a paralegal for several years.

Amy Merriweather is a public relations manager at Morrison & Foerster, leading the firm’s media outreach on the West Coast, and serving as the firm’s chief media contact on litigation and intellectual property matters. She has been working in legal journalism and public relations for approximately eight years, and was a general assignment newspaper reporter in New York and Ohio. As a former reporter, Amy is intimately familiar with deadline pressures, the need to put news into context or advance trends, the race to scoop the competition and how news is evaluated, written and edited.
